2011 South Pacific Classic Tips – Royal Randwick

April 15th, 2011

The 2011 Listed South Pacific Classic will be run over 1400m fourth on the card during Doncaster Mile Day at Royal Randwick this Saturday April 16th.

Our exclusive tips and betting updates on the South Pacific Classic will put you in the best position to get your stack up early before the major Group 1 races begin.

It’s a pretty open field this year with not too much experience through the field and we’ve found plenty of value in our picks with online bookmaker Luxbet.

1st – #1 Torio’s Quest

Winning the race will be Torio’s Quest who we think can bounce back from a last start flop and claim another career win.

So far his record looks good with four wins from six starts and some big ones at that.

His best was a Gold Coast Magic Millions victory that saw him take away more than half a million dollars as a surprise 14 to 1 chance.

That was his third win on the trot and we’ll excuse the first up flop in the Derby Munro Stakes last start.

Currently with Luxbet Torio’s Quest is a $4.40 chance after opening at a $5.50 fixed price.

2nd – #2 Sea Lord

Sea Lord won the Derby Munro last start in a surprise victory paying more than $26 with Luxbet.

It was only the colts third career victory after going two in a row to start the year.

After that he had another two runs, failing in a handicap event and running fourth in the Canberra Guineas.

He’ll be right around the money again here but we think Torio’s Quest will have the upper hand with the extra 200m in the race.

Having said this Sea Lord has a win over 1500m so he will definitely run the trip and ir probably a deserved $4.20 favourite on Luxbet after punters came hard at the opening $6.50 price.

3rd – #10 Lucha Libre

Certainly the smokey of the field and a bit of an unknown quantity coming into the race.

Has had just the one start but this filly won a maiden in Wyong by an impressive 2.5 lengths.

She was overlooked in that race with a $21 starting price but surprisingly she’s still good value at Luxbet with a $17 price tag.

That’s come in from $26 so she’s already taken plenty of support and we think she’ll give these proven horses a real shake in the final 200m.

Trained by Anthony Cummings too so she’ll present well and will run beautifully.
